A furnace and air conditioner may be able to control the temperature of the air in your home but it can not clean the air in your home. Many homes are plagued by airborne contaminants, which often have harmful side effects to your health. In fact, your indoor air is usually much more polluted than the outdoor air. When you consider how much time you spend in your home, making sure that the air is clean should be your family's number one priority.

There are three key products that can clean the air in your home.

A thermostat, in its most basic form, simply turns your furnace and air conditioner on and off according to the ambient temperature in your home and the temperature setting you've selected. Most people don't know that a quality thermostat dramatically improves indoor comfort due to its ability to maintain a consistent temperature.

Electronic Air Cleaners. Electronic Air Cleaners are among the most effective filter systems available for your home. Using one will also ensure your heating & cooling system stays cleaner and operates at maximum efficiency.

Media Air Cleaner. Unlike standard air filters that collect only relatively large particles and are only 2-5% efficient, Media Air Cleaners go a big step further. The Media Air Cleaner Cabinet mounts on the return-air side of the furnace to re-circulate and filter the air in your home at up to 55% efficiency, keeping wallpaper, paint, and furnishings cleaner longer. The advanced filtration system also removes household dust and animal dander from the air you breathe.

Germicidal Ultraviolet Lights. In some homes, comfort comes with side effects, especially during warmer times of the year. Many people find that when they use their air conditioning systems, allergies, headaches and cold symptoms seem to worsen. Unfortunately, air conditioning coils are dark and damp, offering the perfect environment for the growth of harmful bacteria, fungi and molds.

A UV Light is a remarkably effective means of arresting this bacterial growth. The unit emits a germicidal ultraviolet frequency that penetrates the cell walls of detrimental microbes, and permanently neutralizing any ill effects. However, health isn't the sole benefit. When mold or similar microbes have been reduced, air conditioner efficiency often improves, saving the homeowner on operating costs.
